Quick amp/speaker/sub question

Quick amp/speaker/sub question
I have Infinity Speakers all the way around--is there any merit to getting the same brand amp and sub? Or is it purely for aesthetics. I am leaning toward a polk/momo 8" sub and an Alpine amp--or should I get the Infinity 6 channel and an Infinity Sub?

This is debateable. Some manufacturers have features that only work when paired with components that they make, but aside from that, I would say other than looks, no. But if you are happy with the quality of a specific manufacturers, than I say stick with it. For the most part, you know the specs are measured on the same metric, so there will be more consistency. i.e., 70 W RMS on an Brand A amp may not be the same as 70 W RMS on Brand B amp because one brand may do power ratings slightly differently.

The only advantage I see to the Infinity amp is that I can have a wired Bass tuner for the interior of the car--the Alpine doesn't appear to have this option--but you can tune it from the top which is good--because I plan on mounting the amp in the floor of my trunk. Besides Alpine amps are very reliable.
