Radio problems
I'm just checking to see if anyone else has encountered this problem before. I bought my RX8 back in the beginning of October and currently have about 6200 miles on it. It is a Winning Blue automatic, base line model. Love the car but lately I've notice that my radio will all of a sudden change stations. I live close to Atlanta and listen to 99.7. What happens is that chances are my radio all of a sudden plays static right when something is coming on that I would like to hear. I listen to a lot of AM radio stations as well and thought that when this first happened it was because I was driving through a bad spot but when it happened while I was listening to an FM station like 99.7 I knew that wasn't the case so I looked at the display and it read 99.9. I know it is not caused by my fingers hitting the button on the steering wheel because 99.9 is not a pre-set station on my radio. This problem happens about 2 times a day now. I do not believe this is something I will be able to get my Mazda service department to replicate so I do not think they will be willing to swap out the head unit unless this problem has occurred in more cars than mine. Anyone else with this type of problem with their radio?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Sorry to say, but you are going looney..
No it's been a topic that some members have had. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ght=radio+dial
Never happened to me though. I'd check with the dealer to see what they could do if it keeps occuring.

your station that you've toned into is probably weak. i have known some radio's to switch station's and go to the next strongest station, when it's about to lose the freguency. just a theory though...good luck

Dude, don't listen to them, you're not going looney. It happens to me to. Funny, I usually listen to 99.5 or 99.9, and it will change TO 99.7. I can kind of listen to both, but it's still annoying.
Doesn't happen occur when there's a bump, I think it might be an EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) problem as it always hits in the same couple of areas. And right near those areas are transmitters (happens to me on base).
I'm calling the service dept today.
