Question Radio Problems: Sound cuts in and out

I've had this problem for a few weeks now. I'll be going down the road and suddenly my speakers will make a loud "POP!!" that's something akin to a bird colliding head first into your windshield while you're driving 65 MPH. After this loud pop I will get no sound out of my speakers, not even that BEEP from the climate controls, but the radio/cd player appears to be working just fine. Then later, with an equally loud POP the sound will return and everything will be fine. The issue repeats itself, but I cannot find a cause. Also, shutting off the car and starting will bring the sound back immediately. I have a 2004 model with the Bose sound system, 6-disc changer. What could be going wrong???

I had a very simialar thing happen.. but on a much different system.

I have the no bose but everything that in my sig. and basically what happened was i left one side of the fuse on my power wire to my amps loose... and it would get enough contact most of the time but every so often it would jiggle a little bit and i would get the loud pops and no sound while they turned back on, only to do it again

it was very hard to replicate it in my driveway because the vibration of the car was moving the fise just enough to lose contact.

I'm guessing you have the same problem but in a different place. Check all of the connections really good on your amp in your trunk (in between the 6x9s) if you can't find the problem there maybe somebody who knows a little bit more about bose can tell you where else you can look.

good luck man..

check the fuses and check the wiring block on the right side of the passenger footwell, it shouldnt come loose since its got a lever to lock it, but if youve tinkered with anything then you might not have tightened it correctly.

actually, i had a rather similar problem... 2004 5 spd manual

had my car in the garage for winter (too snowy here to drive an 8) and when i got it out in spring, i noticed that my audio was silent, yet the display was the radio station.
i tried turning the volume up, with no sucess, pressed the mute button to no avail, even reconected the batery was useless. everything worked fine, cd player, radio, all was smooth, but i had no sound at all. at later time i noticed that every several seconds an extremely faint little "pop" sound was heard in the dashboard, very rithmical, like water dripping, but it was electical for certain.
had nothing to do with rpms or engine runing or not.

eventually i brought it to the dealer, and they said very professionally.."hmm.. we'll change the amplifier for you"
i didn't agree, since i was almost certain the poping sound was pointing to something going on "up front" so i demanded the full radio and all that was there to be changed. so they stripped the showroom 8 and swapped it to show me that was not the issue, and what do you know? everything was fine! so i got to keep it.

amplifier.. peh.. :P

see if there is anything close to what i described, and if so, you may want to have a run at the dealer.

there is, however, another issue i had with both the old and the new radio... the preset radio posts on numbers 4(especially) and 5 have an odd behaviour. they run fine, then suddenly they stop and it sais "searching...". if i wait, after a while, it returns to normal. if i change to another post and imediately back, it returns to normal as well. hell if i know what it's about.
