Read the FAQ, have a question on the factory MP3 HU

My factory CD player is doing the skipping thing where it skips if you so much as breath on it.

So I have the opportunity to get a factory MP3 head unit cheaply. Will I encounter any issues with trying to install it into my car?

I have the single disc CD player from the factory with BOSE. I have a 2004 and the MP3 player is from a 2004 as well.

Thanks.

Provided the MP3 headunit is Bose as well, no problems. But I hope you're getting it for next to nothing. I'd hate to see someone pay 150 bucks for a 9 year old factory headunit, just to have the same thing happen sometime.

Well in reading the forums, it would seem the MP3 and 6-DISC both have anti-skip built in whereas the single disc CD does not.

Granted, thats from reading the forum.... so I take it with a grain of salt. Still researching.

I don't know about that. Maybe that's true. But it doesn't really matter. I've read 10X more than my share of similar issues here in the electronics forum (this is really the only section I visit). The headunit is still about to turn double digits old. If you're getting it for free... or maybe under 100 bucks... that's one thing. But I know some people like to charge 2and300 for the headunit. For that price, you could buy the Metra kit and a single din aftermarket headunit. MUCH better sound quality, bluetooth, USB/iPod connectivity, etc etc etc. So you see my point?

I definitly see your point.

I will always stay factory though. I prefer the OEM look to the Metra kit.

Then may I suggest just getting one of the iPod integration modules and running your music off an iPod or other MP3 player?

Who uses CDs anymore anyway?
