Rear Speakers - what fits & what do you have?

Hey guys - Well I got my system in the trunk hitting hard enough to knock your fillings out, the rest of the factory set up isn't quite keeping up anymore.. after searching i still havent found any DEFINITAVE results. so...

What fits in the rear? crutchfield is telling me the only thing they have that fits is jbl gt0927 But I refuse to believe thats it.

what I would LIKE is alpine type R 6x9s with amp. (doing the same to the front and it fits) so my question is can it be done? if not what do YOU have? and how hard was it to make fit if it didn't already

And I'd like to stick with alpine if i can.. i'm trying to go all one brand -- i got the Alpine Type X 12" in a custom box pushed by Alpine PDX-1.1000 amp and if i had my way i'd do Alpine type R 6x9s rear and Alpine type R 5x7 w/ tweets front all pushed by Alpine PDX 4.150 I'd do that amp because its more than plenty powerfull and its STACKABLE with the amp i already have

What do you think i should do? what will work for me?

i did as a matter of fact.. that thread is more based on speaker sizes and setups in general - as well as an emphasis on bose systems. The info I want is what brand and model systems fit in the rear and what do people already have. and did you have to do anything to make it fit?

Thumbs up

Stick with the Alpine Type-R for the rest of your car. My entire system is alpine and it rocks. I have already won 7 awards for sound quality and decibles.

I have the following:

3- Type R 10" in the trunk
2- Type R 6x9" in the back deck
4- Type R 6 1/2 component sets in the front doors
1- Type R 5/14 for my center channel
2- PDX-1.1000
2- PDX-4.150
7" touch screen
New Pulse touch vehicle hub
Sirius Nav-Traffic
Full speed Ipod
Alpine CD Changer
Alpine DVD Player

I read so much on the forum about the pioneer units everyone is buying and I'm not sure why. The specs on pioneers stuff does not even compare to the new Alpine line.

GOOD TO SEE ANOTHER ALPINE FAN!!!

Talking

Your setup sounds goos so far. I am not really a fan of the type-X line that alpine has. I put a complete line in my Mercedes and they are no where near the sound quality of the Typr-R line. The type X sub needs alot more power and airspace to drive it. Also depends on if you are using a sealed enclosure or a ported box.

I will be posting pics next week of the final version of my 8. It has been in the shop for the past three weeks. We have been making some huge breakthroughs on some of Mazda's fucked up logic in the radio assembly and the cars electrical system.

At this point we have replaced the factory NAV system with the new Alpine touch screen. The open and tilt fuctions still work

We have now gutted the factory radio and re-assebled the boards to still display the climate control on the in dash display along with all the info for the new alpine system including sirius, ipod, and dvd's

Today was the first time that we had everything wired together and everything worked perfect. Tomorrow we start putting it all back together with the new dash(TOP SECRET) and all the other gadgets we decided to try and squeeze into this car.

I would be more than happy to help you with setting up your 8. I just want to make sure you realise the amount of money that is involved here. Between my engine mods, appearance, sound system, and every option available to make my 8 invisible to the police I have invested about $25,000.

The Alpine system probably counts for half of that

Not sure if it matters, but a 6.5 component sent will fit in the rear speaker area if you make a custom mounting plate. I have Pioneer REV 6.5 components all around and it sounds pretty damn good.

so just to be sure - the Alpine type r 6x9s rear and the 6 1/2 components in the front both fit with no mods? i just want to make sure i have planned for everything when i actually take my car apart because i plan on doing it all in 1 day

and about my type x 12 - i have a custom built sealed box with 1.1 airspace minus the .2 for the speaker which is what alpine says is optimum airspace.. and the PDX 1.1000 which is 1000 W RMS just like the sub so its a perfect match.

I did start with a alpine type r 10 (single) and thats what got me to love alpine but i really wanted to hit those lows and i didn't want to go multiple speakers.

The 6x9 will fit in the rear no prob, but for the 6 1/2 components you will have to fabricate a mounting plate and depending on the tweeter, you might have to modify the mounting for the tweeter too.
What do you have to begin with? If you have the non-Bose factory stuff, the 6 1/2 drivers will not necessarily fit into the 6x8 opening in the door, so you might have to trim the cutout on top of using the mounting plate.

I have all non bose stuff. but for the fronts.. MS went with the 6 1/2 so i was asking if there were no mods.. i think i'm going to go with the 5x7s components . crutchfield says it'll fit. I just don't want to get my door apart and THEN find out I have to fabricate some crazy mounting device...

what do you have tamas?

You can find 6x8 components as well if you want. That's the front cutout size.

what do you have tamas?
Speaker-wise this, plus an Alpine MRV-F450 5-channel amp and an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10" sub in a 4080 enclosure.
