Remote and Ground BEST WAY??
Dear all,
I was thinking ways to get the remote and ground cables back for the amplifier for new subwoofer, and i thought of the NAV system.
Can i use any of its cables for powering up the amplifier??
It has remote,ground,12v(+).
Regardz

check the sticky thread at the top of this forum for info about the best places get and run wires. you should spend some time on the stickies of this forum before you decide to do any audio work.
Basically the best thing to do is ground it back at the battery and get your ground from your second cig lighter in the center console of the back seat.

I grounded my amp in the trunk itself.
I was going to run a ground back to the battery, but decided to test some spots in the trunk first.
I got lucky.
I took a piece of 4awg wire and tested the resistance on the wire.
Then I used that wire to connect to the ground on the battery and test the resistance in the trunk at several spots.
I found an area that had almost no measurable resistance.
As WikkedOne mentioned, the cigarette lighter in the back is great for a remote lead.

It's not that magical though.
If you can point me to a picture of the trunk that shows the passenger side where the 4080 box goes.
I can highlight where I connected to ground wire to.
Of course the picture would have to have the carpet/covers removed.

All I could find on here was this...

To recap, here's a quote from forbidden's sticky on "What is proper ground", showing what I did to find this spot.

Then I started to test areas of the trunk getting over 1 ohm until I found this spot.
It measured .6 ohms, and sometimes .5 ohms.
Subtracting the resistance in the wire, that's .2 or .1 ohms.
Guess I just got lucky.
Here's a picture of the spot I used for a ground.
Rear passenger side behind the wheel well.

I'm not the right person to ask that. You'll need a line out converters (LOC).
I have an aftermarket headunit installed in the glovebox, so I just use rca plugs to the back of the unit.
I replaced all the speakers. I have a audio cable in the cup holder area which connects to my MP3 player, and I mostly play music from the mp3 player, and control the volume from there also.
You may want to check out this thread for info on the LOC.

I you go w/ the LC6i, this thread has diagrams/instructions and pictures.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to post that man. I have been having noise on my LCD screen since March whenever I use it to watch DVDs/tv with my DVD player/tv tuner. It's not that big of a deal but just something I always wanted to take care of. But I never wanted to run anything directly to the battery that anyone could see. Hopefully after I try using your idea and grounding to that bolt, it will decrease the noise.

I also used this spot and mine read about .01 ohms. The only problem I see is that there is only about a 4 gauge wire from the battery to the body. (without tracing the other 2, I assume 1 goes to the block and the other to the starter, but just a guess) This is OK for the system I have now, but when I install bigger amps, I will make a grounding kit and add a 2 gauge from the battery to the body and see how that works. If needed I will match my 2 gauge power wire all the way back to the battery.

Since doing that ground, I've adding a 4point grounding kit to the battery.
I didn't measure it, but I'm sure it improved some.
Good luck.
