Remote Start / Shop

Remote Start / Shop
So - three part question:
1) What are some good ways to determine if an electronics installer is safe/any good? - I am thinking of having a remote start system installed cause I don't want to wait for the car to warm up in the winter this year but I want to make sure that the person doing the install is qualified/will do a good job and not screwing stuff up under the dash in my 8.
2) For those of you familiar with the chicagoland area - anyone happen to know of a good shop to have this type of work done?
3) Any advice from people on tips for getting a system installed beyond what's out there on search (I got some good notes on brands and a bit of info on having to use a clutch override but not a lot of 'best practice' type advice)?

So, is the remote start for you and the remote shop for your GF/wife/SO?
1. word of mouth from satisfied customers is really the only way. A small non-affiliate can actually be better than a larger chain, so ...
2. n/c
3. yes, you will need a clutch overide (starter interlock switch overide), which is simply jumpering the switch harness connector so that the pedal need not be depressed to allow the starter motor to engage. I actually had to do this when I over-compressed my interlock switch during clutch bracket reinforcement and had to temporarily electrically bypass it. Of course you have to be careful to leave the transmission in neutral with the e-brake engaged.
