Remove rear 6x9's to port bass in

I saw this on a really nice setup my friend has in his BMW - I was just wondering if you guys thought it might be worth it..

either just take the 6x9s out so the bass can get into the car easier - or to build a box with ports that go straight into the cabin via the 6x9 holes..

just curious

I may just take my 6x9's out completely because they aren't allowing my rear panels to lock in fully, so it rattles like nobody's business. But this would be interesting nonetheless.
