Replacing speaker wires?
Has anyone replaced the stock speaker wires in the RX-8?
Along with adding an amp (to my base stereo), I want to replace the factory wiring since they will likely not be sufficient with an aftermarket amp and my new speakers.
I was wondering how big task this is. Obviously, running the new wires to the rear speakers is not an issue, but how about the ones that go to the door speakers? They have to go through those grommets etc...
If anyone did this and could tell about their experience (even better, provide photos), that'd be great.

i think he's hinting that you can take the doors off to get the wire through the harness.
i can't even figure out how to unclip the harness. i saw that someone got the passenger side done, but it wasn't too clear.

Take the doors off... yeah right.
If that's the way to do it, then I think my stock wires will stay in place. No way would I take the doors off and then suffer with getting them reattached and aligned properly.
There HAS to be another (and a lot easier) way...

Let me try to explain this better, the doors do not need to be removed. When Mazda did the wiring running into the door it was done with a plug so that in case of door damage the harness can be unplugged and the entire door removed. The installer that ran the wires into my door for me pulled back the loom, found some empty spots on the plug not being used, drilled out the hole just enough to fit a wire through the plug and into the door.
Hope this helps, does it make sense now?
