RX-8 Metra Kit and Heater not working

hi,
i'm having a problem with the heater after i installed the metra kit into my 04 rx-8. The AC seem to be working but i can't adjust anything else. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever experience with this problem? What can i do to make it to work?

Thanks !

i read this post many times before i purchase the kit ! It doesn't say much about the the heater. I have tried to unplug and replug like 3 times and now the heater and a/c works but still cannot adjust anything else. A/c still on when i switch to heater. Can anyone explain this?

Recheck your connections. It's possible you reversed the fan and temp dials. Or maybe you just have a bad unit. Contact metra.

I've been telling you guys all those "Axxess" boxes made by Metra are complete crap. Had another faulty GMOS-04 box on Saturday.

new user here, ive looked around and couldnt find anything to compare with, but heres my issue, i have a 2004 rx8 and had a metra double din installed with a pioneer fh800bt head unit, everything works fine except i dont have cold air blowing. The techs installed the original head unit back in and it works fine, they also used up 4 modules that comes with the kit and still no cold air. does anyone have any comments, oh and the wires are all correct. i also tried to call metra about it but it seems the engineers would now something but they are not local! help please, im about to ditch the ride if it cant work.

is the axxess box flashed with the latest updates? its up to 1.4 now which should fix some of the earlier reported bugs.

i would think the issue might be the soldering points on the AC module but you said it works after they installed it back to stock.

Version 1.1 was supposed to have fixed the display freezing issue. The glitching issues were fixed with firmware upgrade version 1.2 or 1.3, but they were never publicly released. Version 1.4 is the "final" release and has fixed all known bugs thus far. Are you doing the firmware updates yourself or are you having a shop do them for you? If you are having a shop do them, make sure they have the most up to date release. I did my own from my laptop, but the shop I went to to borrow an update cable from checked their system against mine and after a few calls to Metra they were told they had to uninstall and reinstall the program before the changes took effect. I would check into that first. Make sure you have firmware version 1.4.

Then read this thread here. I had the same problem with mine. Everything worked with the factory unit, I installed the Metra kit and other then the early Metra bugs I had, the heat was still a problem. As soon as I did the DIY heat control fix from the other thread, everything has been perfect with the HVAC.

By the way, as stated above, all of this information is already in the "main" Metra kit thread, here.
