Hey, i'm new, first post, i just had a few questions.. I'm looking in to buying an rx-8 and i really wanted to put in an alpine 9853 (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...y=20&p_main=10) because a. i can hook my ipod up to it, b. it's scroll bar, c. it's really awesome and its sleek and professional.
now the problem is, the 2004 rx-8 (as far as i've seen) has the air condition and the head unit as one piece. would it be possible for me to replace my head unit (deck) with the alpine?? if not this is a pretty big downside for the rx-8..

You would have to do a custom job for a aftermarket HU. I havent seen a dash kit for the 8. do a search, you will find some cool threads on what some of the people on this forum have done for the HU.

 

You can possible cut into the plastic material on teh dash and put it in....i am think of planning and putting one in adn i will sure to put out a tutorial.

 

Yes it can be done. I have just done this in the last 5 days actually. It is not a easy DIY job by any means. I have been taking build up pics as I go along and have not had the time to post them up yet. Read some of the longer topics on it on the threads below.
