how about asking the guy who 'told you you need it'??
....and only 900 watts? do you want to hear your music if the engine is running?
Where (oh where) are you mounting two twelves?

Be a little careful who you are talking to..I thought the reply was quite straight forward.
If you want assistance a little bit of civility as a new member will go a long way.

A line out converter, or L.O.C., is a device that turns the speaker-level audio signal in a car audio system into a line-level signal that one can connect to an amplifier. This is necessary when one is adding an amplifier to a factory head unit, since factory head units do not have RCA outputs to get signals from. Typically, L.O.C.s come in two and four channel versions for a variety of installation options, and may be easily removed to return the vehicle to stock.

Welcome to the board. Everything you need to know is in the sticky at the top of this forum.
You'll need an amp wiring kit. Don't know which amp you have, so 8 gauge may do, but buy a 4 gauge one to be safe.
