Rx8 Stereo Faceplate

Hi, I'm new to this so sorry if this has already been mentioned.................

I am looking to get a new faceplate for my 2004 rx8 stereo so i can fit a double din sat nav/dvd player. But all the ones i see online will only fit one with a manual climate control. i'm not sure which mine is, it has silver edges to the buttons and a plus/minus symbol on it. Does anyone know if this is classed as manual climate control? If it isnt where can i get a faceplate that will fit my car.

Hope this makes sense.

The silver around your ***** are part of the **** itself and not a part of the metra kit.

P.S. wrong section

Pretty sure of it:

"Custom design allows retention of factory climate controls in their original location"

Makes no mention of auto vs manual climate controls, same with the S2 kit

Brilliant, thanks for your help mate. Been looking at other peoples comments on aftermarket headunits and there seems to be lots of issues with messing up displays, air con not working, steering wheel controls not working and more. Starting to think i might just leave it as it is. lol.

Steering wheel controls will stop working if you use an aftermarket headunit. You will want to search threads about the Metra Axxess (I have a thread around here with my experiences on this) or the PAC modules. They are very easy to use and will autodetect our cars and almost all headunits. This will allow you to retain your controls.

As far as the AC goes, you will want to contact metra and see if they have a kit with the latest firmware update in their LCD display module (that comes with the kit i showed you). If not, there is a thread going around here where users are sending eachother the cable and software requried to update the module. This should help you with any issues with the auto climate controls and random display issues.

Yes. Metra kits are generally really reliable. I believe the entire RX-8 Community cried the lord's name in vain when Metra released theirs for our cars
