Sat Nav

Hello all,

I wonder if anyone can help

I've just bought a used Rx8- the previous owner had sat nav fitted as an added extra for which there are no instructions in the car manual.

In my ignorance, I thought I'd try to use it last weekend but now I don't know how to turn it off. Its been driving me up the wall all week

If anyone knows how it works (not sure if the satnavs all work differently) or if anyone knows how I can access a manual online, i'd be super grateful

Thanks

Sorry - do you mean that the previous owner fitted the Mazda OEM sat nav system (uses a motorized flip-up screen with the controls on the console just ahead of the seat-heaters)? Or is this an aftermarket head-unit with navigation that replaced the OEM stereo?

If it's the former, the owner's manual contains the instructions regardless of whether the car came equipped with it - it's located way in the back. If you don't have a copy of the owner's manual, you can download a pdf of it here: http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/pdf/...004_owners.pdf

If it's the latter - you'd need to know what make and model of head unit and then visit that manufacturer's site and search for the manual there.

Could you take a picture of what they did and post it?

If it is the OEM Satnav, it will be mounted on the top of the center console, and has a motorized hood that opens and closes. To shut it off you just press the "open/close" button, and the hood should rotate down and turn off.

Sounds to me though like you have an aftermarket satnav though, because the OEM nav systems are pretty foolproof.
Are there any markings on the satnav that identify a brand and model?

Thanks to all of you. I managed to figure out how it works after a little bit of playing around
