Satellite Radio hookup??
#2
The easiest way to do it is just buy one of those moveable satellite radio players that you can move between your car and your home. Both Sirius and XM make these; they're not very expensive.
If you want it integrated with the Bose unit in your dash, it has to be Sirius. Mazda sells it as a kit. The "black box" gets installed in your trunk, and a cable has to run from the black box to your dash, which involves removing many trim pieces (in your trunk, door sills, A-pillar) and the in-dash stereo. But when you're finished, it's invisible—and you can hear satellite radio by simply tapping the "SAT" button already on your Bose.

Or you can get the PIE box for an RCA in. If you have an iPod, you can get the Audiolink which will allow an iPod AND a satellite radio (via mini-phone line input). Either way, don't go FM modulated. Line level is MUCH MUCH MUCH cleaner. PIE box with the RCA adaptor is around $80-90 and the AudioLink is around $120. Do a search on either and you will find many threads. The Audiolink will let you use the steering wheel controls for your iPod.

first, you need to make sure your headunit has firmware 9.55, but since you have a 2005, i bet it is. All you need to do is pull the headunit out and plug the box into the cd-changer port. check out www.mazdaparts.com for the PIE. Search PIE and install on this forum and you'll find plenty of links to threads for how to take your HU out. I've done it a few times. I can pull the HU in 5 minutes and do the whole job in 20.
