Take out the existing ones, go to a machine shop and ask how much do they charge to make a pair for you.

But why do you want to have them in aluminum?

One: It looks cheap
Two: In a parking lot it would stand out more (luster).
Three: People have complimented the triangles in my car. it would accent its appeal

Thanks for the suggestion.

Aluminum would get burning hot in the sun though.

I have never used the triangle as a head rest. Are you thinking the heat could comprimise the integrity of the leather/cloth?

Yes, that's what I'd be concerned about, although it might not be a big deal since the leather will get very hot anyway while the car is sitting on the sun.
But also, I'd hate to accidentally touch the aluminum accents while hot

True. I think a thin foam spacer would keep it off the seats. But how often do you touch it or accidently touch it? I can't say I ever have. I think I wil get one made and do a test run.

Are you going to change the side pillarof the center console to aluminum too? Because they match right now and if you change the accent, go for the whole change and do the center console sides as well.

I the shinka OEM rotarys (the triangles) are a shiny finish instead of the more flat of the rest of the 8's. You could probably order them from mazda for a no doubt exorbitant price.

Metal and plastic are already mismatched by mazda (round metal air vent/metalic plastic seat triangles) (interior door handles/ metalic plastic console pillars). Why the mismatch? I'm aiming for uniformity more than plush factor. I think it would add much to the interior and set it apart from other mutt interiors in other cars.

actually, aside from the shinka, they all match. only thing that is off is the door handles (if it actually counts as a mismatch).

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions. I won't have time to get it done for a few months since i'm in class 12 hrs a day but I plan to do the seats and the console pillars aluminum for starters. I'll post some pics for you all when it happens.

Why are you guys calling the spare rotors "triangles"?

Getting the seat rotors replaced with aluminum? that would be a major cost and the great majority would notice no difference, Are you 16?

No i'm an adult, college grad, officer in the army. I'm not sure if it would be noticeable since it has not been attempted. If the price is outrageous I may still get the console pillars done. Mine have accumulated scratches. Ballpark figure what do you think the seats would run?

I actually had a similar idea when I first saw the Shinka spare rotors.... but after pricing them from Mazda I decided against it... I was actually thinking of color matching them to the car but then I came to the realization that that would be considered "rice", so I quickly got that out of my head... I like the painted look of them now and figure that is the bast way to keep them.... unless I decided to paint them black to match the leather.....

aren't the metal rotars in the headrests stainless steel already? how will changing them to aluminum (or plastic) look dramatically better? maybe i'm not understanding this or can someone clarify or post pictures of what exactly it is he's trying to change? thanks
