Shift lights

Hi guys, I'm looking at putting a shift light in my RX8 and I was wondering if anyone else has done this before?
That little buzzer isn't quite loud enough for me, and I would like to avoid overrevving when I take it on the track etc....

Basically any expericance on this, and does anyone know where the RPM signal wire is?

Step one: Get a canzoomer. I believe he's got a tach signal coming out of it, now.

Hi winter.
Get a canzoomer? Im sorry I don't know what a canzoomer is?
We might not have those all the way down here at the bottom of the world!
Is it something like a RSM? I had one of those in my old car and it had a shift light control out.
Its just that a mate is selling some shift lights adjustable from 3000-12000 rm for only about $35 so if I can get one and wire it up myself it would be great!

Canzoomer is a forum member who is doing great work in helping us mod our cars. check out www.canzoomer.com, I think <winter> meant the air/fuel/etc controller which Canzoomer is perfecting for the RX-8

Man something strange is happening? My user name is DCD and when I tried to post the post below as myself it posted it as LoKnLoD, then when I posted saying that the post was by DCD it didn't show it? Argh.... Oh well.... Ok the following is the reply to StealthTL and Unser:

"Ok wow, after reading a lot of posts (my eys are swimming...) about this mod, it sounds like its quite awesome.

But as im in NZ and our dollar is quite a lot weaker than yours I think I will have to wait a little while. Its also difficult since we are pretty much literally at opposite sides of the world!
I would also like to stick to some more basic mods, first (exhaust, intake etc) before I move onto chips and the such.
At the moment the car is completly stockers. So yeah... Does anyone know where I the RPM sensor is, or has anyone at all put in a shift light themselves?"

This forum seems to have a problem with cookies getting confused, and users log on and end up under someone else's user ID. If you log off the forum (or delete the RX8club cookie) and re-log in, it should be fixed.

Not what you're asking for, but for what it's worth - it's impossible to overrev the Renesis on acceleration, you'll just hit the rev limiter around 9500 rpm. No harm.

Gordon

Hey DCD...
Sorry to hear about the thread issues. Quick question though... if you are looking for a shift light you're not going by sound. There are two sounds, the throat and the audible shift indicator. Both equally effective. Also looking for a light you're not looking at the road. Last week pulling apporx 5k in 5th doing 183k I was more interested in the road and the sound rather than the tach.

Cheers mate, from north of the 49th.
