For the tab things, just make sure all of them are on, otherwise they'll start to slip off due to too much slack.

At first I installed mine backwards, but flipped it around and all the slits lined up.

Hope this helps.

As for your AFE problems, sounds bad, but I wouldn't be able to tell you if you're installing it wrong or it's defective... Mine slipped right in, never had any problems with it not being able to clear the reverse stopper.
Thanks for the info, man. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's installed right, just because it's angled right, and the fact it was hard to get out the first time, and impossible the second

bahaha, the more I'm looking at my shift boot, the more I realize how STUPID I was when I put it together. I was just so frustrated with the Short Shifter that I didn't even pay attention to what I was doing. Man, I suck at this DYI stuff.

Anyone who got the e-brake boot, have you heard from Shift Style since? Last he said was they would fix it but that was weeks ago. He hasn't logged in since November 19th.

On a different note, I received my shift boot yesterday (took a while to getting around to pay him). Look and fit are fantastic. Pictures to come...

So what we learned here is:

a) The shiftboot is a good product, just don't install it backwards
b) the e-brake cover isn't as good
c) contact with them is slow and intermittent : (

I'm kinda sorry but I had to do it. The Paypal dispute time was up tomorrow. I wanted to give them time but I'm at the point I would rather just get a refund and forget about the whole thing.

Has anybody bought the console covers from ShiftStyle lately? I ordered them around Xmas and recently received 1 out of the 2 pieces (waiting on a reply from shiftstyle as to why only the front cover was sent).

Anyways, I'm wondering because the example I got does not have the cloth bottom shown like rztom's. Mine is entirely leather top to bottom so the bit that wraps around to the bottom side of the lid seems much thicker then the cloth version. I can't get the bottom panel of the console lid assembly to fit onto the top panel whatsoever with the thick leather in between.

The edge between the cloth and leather on rztom's example is also the actual edge of the top panel where as my edge between the top leather and bottom wrap around leather is 1/2-3/4" wrapped beneath the panel. This puts the leather seems to be sandwiched by the top and bottom panels rather then outside on the edge.

Has anybody seen or dealt with this?

I'd suggest trimming somewhat close to that seam and cutting wedges at the corners to prevent that bunching there. Leather is pretty pliable, with a little adjustment it should work out nicely.

tehsexehnes, you stapled too close to the center. What you want to do is staple just around the edge of the plastic plate, and then cut off any excess material. This is how the OEM R3 center armrest was done. I can try to post a picture later tonight if you would like, but here is a mock up of how it looks.

It would appear that Shiftstyle has changed the way they make the console covers. It looks like there's way more material than on the one I got a couple years ago.

tehsexehnes - what you see on the bottom of my cover is not cloth.... it was actually suede leather stitched to the top. I agree with Lane03, you'll need to trim some of that excess material off and staple it down closer to the edges. Make sure you pull the leather REALLY tight before stapling....

Hope this helps

Hey guys,
Thanks for the help, I got it on there and all is well. For the most part I was just gun shy and didn't want to cut the material lest I cut too much and have a new expensive leather coaster. Just had to bite the bullet in the end.

I ended up cutting triangles out of the corners and stapling them close to the edge like the R3 armrest. The plastic cover still wasnt excited about going on there but the screws provided enough persuasion.

Thanks again. Cheers!

Hello all,

We apologize for not being present on the board lately. We've recently moved our shop, and in the move we lost a couple of patterns including the rear console for the RX-8. If anyone could loan out their rear console for a couple of days, we'll provide you with free covers for both from and rear in any material and color you would like.

As well, anyone who is waiting on a replacement for the e-brake cover, should see something in the mail very soon (if not already). Please be sure to get in touch with us to confirm it fits to your satisfaction.

Thank you all again
