Single 12" sub box dimensions??

Hey guys i just got my 04 Rx-8 this past Saturday and went to throw my 12" Kicker comp in the trunk.... and i cant get the damn box to fit. It's about 14" all the way around it seems give or take an 1/8'th here and there. An ideas on how to get this thing to fit or if you have built your own single box and happen to have dimensions for either sealed or a ported box? Any help would be appreciated. I've tried looking for anything on here but after an hour of nothing turning up i figured i would throw this post out and see if i could get a little help, thanks again!

Yeah the opening of the trunk is pretty small. Most everyone on here buys pre-fab boxes designed for the RX8. For a 12", these are your only options.

Obviously you can build one yourself too if you'd like. But if you're just going to build a rectangle out of MDF, I suggest just buying one of the above boxes. By the time you buy a sheet of MDF (~$30), screws and glue (~$10), liquid nails (~$3) and carpeting (~$15), you've spent over half the price of the boxes above and you still have to do all the work. On top of that, will yours fit as perfect as theirs? Doubtful. But if you're handy with fiberglass and want to do a 12" stealth box over the wheel well or something, then go for it.

Ya I've been weighing that option... Only thing is ferrying a box tgar did and meets the sub needs as fast as actual ported volume of the box.. Idk the sub says 2.4ft^3 for a ported box.. I know its not super important to be exact but if like it close I guess

Don't know anyone that makes a vented box for the RX8. There's really not enough room. The whole area that those boxes take up (behind the rear seats but forward of the trunk storage dip) is only about 1.75ft^3 max. Years ago, I bought one of those boxes and turned it into a vented box with a 4 1/2" hole saw and some 4" PVC. Probably only left a cube of air for the actual woofer (a 12" Alpine Type-R). The Type-R is a small box woofer, so it worked pretty well. Nothing special though....and it didn't look all that great with adding the PVC to an already completed and carpeted box.

Unless you plan on getting your hands dirty with some fiberglass work, forget the vented box right now.

Ya.. I did some calculations and there is almost no way to put a port in unless I made the box about 3' wide and ran the port out toward the passenger side with the sub as far to the driver side as possible lol.. Guess ill just buy one premade for 75$
