Sirius Radio
Ok so one of my christmas gifts was a sirius radio. Im pretty excited about installing it in a few days but one thing is bothering me. Like a radar detector the sirius mount display is powered through the cigarette lighter. I have seen many people not use the cigarrette lighter to power there radar detectors because they some how hide the wire under there dash and connect the wire somewhere else i guess to get power. I have no idea how to even begin to do this so I was hoping someone could tell me where to go to get good instructions or maybe someone here has done it themselves and would be willing to share how they did it because stuff like this is where im at!

What kind of Sirius receiver did you get? After some hunting I found a power plug at Radio Shack that fit my Starmate Replay, an inline fuse and holder and the wire to match the power tip. Wired it up and spliced both power and ground into the wires for the cigarette lighter. Pretty easy install, I can take a pic or browse Radio Shacks website for the specific parts if it'll help.

I'll take some pics and email em to you tomorrow.
Here is a list of the parts I used, not sure of the fuse size but think I used 5amps. Get whichever "Adaptaplug" tip fits best, the store has a whole sest to try.
20AMP inline fuse holder - PN270-1213 $2.39
5amp blade-type fuse - PN270-1079 $1.49
Adaptaplug (can't remember which one but only one fits) - PN (for reference) 273-1721 $4.99
6 foot adaptaplug extension - PN273-1641 - $6.99
These are from Radio Shack, the store here had all the parts in stock. Search and you can find the steps to remove the ashtray, not hard. Once it's out wire positive and negative to the lighter socket with the fuse holder in-line with the power.
