Smart keyless system on '04s?

I know this might sound crazy for some, but I think the whole smart card thingy is fancy and was wondering if there is ANYTHING I can do to install it on my '04,, even if I had to change several parts, I just can't get over it

You would have to change out pretty much the whole wire harness to get it to work.

I think someone posted something about this awhile ago and the price was around 2k in parts and a few hundred hours in labor.

I looked it up in here, but couldn't find any threads about it, would you please refer me to it?

Go aftermarket. My bro-in-law used to work for a shop that did them. He put in the Wife's remote start. I have seen keyless entry systems. Should be easy to do.

Are you in MD? DC metro? I can point you in the direction of a good shop.

If not, I will ask him tonight.

Well, the place here is called Auto Essentials. They do lots of work, both aftermarket and for dealers. Give them a call (301) 231-5444. They may know folks out your way.

you mean the "switch blade" keys? got to walmart, they can cut them for you using your stock key as the template. I had mine done there and it works beautifully. I programmed the keyless and the new key and I'm in business.

Yea, that's what I got. However, it's used meaning it's already cut..

I have a 04 only had 1 key. The key from my local dealer was about $30 cut. Then they wanted $88 just to program it. I argued with them (I guess just to get my blood pressure up). Finally I gave up left with my unprogrammed key. Locksmith could not add the key either. I used a Scytek remote start alarm(they are computer programmable for runtime) set the run timer to 150 minutes put my one key under the dash in the bypass kit and now no longer need a key. I have had it this way for about 3 months now it has pros and cons but I do feel like I beat the dealer this time. If you want more details pm me
