squeaky console (near shift stick)
Hi guys. my 8 is just about 3 months old. It has only 840km on it but the console (area near the shift stick or more in the front) now has always had some squeaky noise when the car is at working temperature.
Will the mazda dealer able to fix it.
I have already sent it to the dealer for checking but when we had a test-drive no squeaky noise was heard. The mazda rep didn't really think there was such a problem.
I beg they would return it to me claiming not much problem found and hence not much done.
What can i do ???
It's very annoying when all you want to hear is the lovely engine rev sound !!!!!! (Not the squeaky noise)

I would think they should try to fix it. Can you try another dealer? If not, the whole console comes out very easily w/ just a few screws. Try pulling out your shifter boot (it just pulls straight up) and verifying the console screws under it are tight. If so, wiggle it and see if you can tell what is squeaking. You may also want to remove the ashtray and check the screws behind it.
Good Luck!

For instructions on removing the centre console cover do a search on the AFE short shifter install.
Be very careful with the little clip near the parking brake adjuster cover.
BTW my cover was sqeaking and it turned out to be the little clip being broken. I replaced it with some velcro tape carefully cut to fit the spot and my speak is gone. If your clip is broken then get the dealer to replace the cover.
