Steering wheel control harness

Steering wheel control harness
Just bought the Pioneer AVH-P4200 Double Din with the dash kit, and need to know what harness I need to retain controls on the aftermarket unit via the steering wheel. I've seen a couple, but I'd like to know from you guys what you used and if it works well. Thanks!

The PAC module works extremely well. I have total control of the head unit via the steering wheel. Installation wasn't quite a breeze, but once I figured out the diagram it wasn't too bad.
Does anyone know how to ground out the DVD player so you can operate it while driving? Yes I know the legal implications of such an endeavor.

I installed a device that allows that, but you can also put a switch on the ground wire and toggle it. Apparently, the head unit needs to "see" a change in ground before it will allow the screen to come on.

Pac swi-ps. Think they might even make a newer version that doesn't require much programming or something. Check out the website at pac electronics. I would, but I'm on my slow *** phone right now waiting for my food at pei wei.

I got the Pac swi ps on the avh 4200 aswell but i cant seem to get it to work. ive connected the white wire to the red/black wire and the red wire and the black ground. but when i go to program it the light doesn't go off when i press a button it stays on for a little then just goes off on it own. Im a noob when it comes to this stuff, sorry for my ignorance.

Power and ground connected properly in addition to the white wire? Purple and Brown loop still intact (not cut!)? Then, before pushing any buttons on the steering wheel, did you set the PACs version number?
The SWI-PS has to be programmed for version # 3.
1. Press and hold the Program Button on the SWI-PS while turning on the vehicle to the accessory position. The LED will turn on.
2. Release the Program Buttonand the LED will turn off.
3. Press the Program Button 3 times. Each time you press and release the Program Button, the LED will turn on and off. Once you press the Program Button 3times, wait or 3 seconds. The LED will flash 3 times indicatingit is programmed for version 3. If it flashes the wrong version number, you will have to start all over at step 1 above in this section. Turn the key off.
4. Once you have programmed the correct version number, you will not have to do these steps again. If you need to reprogram the steering wheel control, you can go directly to the next section.
Then you can go into the button programming sequence. Read the link I posted above.
