stock head unit

So I just bought the car and the factory stereo setup looks like its a b**** to mess with. The red bar that runs above the stock deck would just be a plain canvas that would look dumb if an aftermarket one would be added. My question is... is there a way to get my ipod to play on the factory deck without going through the whole process of getting an aftermarket one. I also want to put a full sound system (subs, amps, speakers) in the future. Do you guys reccomend sticking with the stock deck or go through the pain of an aftermarket one.

might want to read the interior electronics sub forum. Removing the stock radio does not get rid of the lcd display. With the metra kit you can even make it say whatever you want.

metra kit can be purchased for either a single or double din aftermarket HU. If you're looking to replace everything then replacing the HU is usually part of that process. You can leave the stock HU but it makes speaker choices a lot trickier.

I have the corksport kit (it came out before the metra) and have replaced every speaker in my car.

Head unit has since been replaced, but you get the idea

There are several manufacturers of an iPod module for the stock headunit. They're all roughly the same.

The Bose system says "Bose" on both doors and has the Bose amp in the trunk up underneath right next to the passenger rear speaker.

when i first started with my stereo system I had the previous version of this: http://www.therpmstore.com/product_i...roducts_id=142

simple to hook up, and will give you the Ipod connectivity you're looking for. Make sure to read the portion of the link I posted about checking your firmware.
