Stock Head Unit replaced under warranty: Loud!
Newb here. I just had the head unit replaced on my car, and now it's incredibly loud, and not in a good way. When going by the volume numbers, 5 and up is really loud, and anything past about 8 puts it at horrible distortion. Prior to them replacing the head unit, the numbers coincided with my old 6, where getting up to around 20 was pretty loud, but not causing distortion. Also, at levels 1 and 2, there is an audible hiss/feedback type noise. I had an absolutely horrible buying experience from the dealer (trying to get them to deliver on the We-Owe side of things), so I'm not terribly thrilled with the idea of bringing the car back there.
Any suggestions on what to check, or should I just suck it up and tell the dealer to fix it. I have a feeling they would say "Hey the stereo's working!" and show me the door.

Yup, I do have the Bose system. I'll be messing around inside the car this weekend, I'll make sure to check that out. Is it easy to determine if this is indeed the case? Thanks for the quick reply.

Well, sure enough, they installed the wrong head unit. Went to the dealer yesterday and they swapped it out. All is normal now. They knew they had installed the wrong one when they did it, too.

Trust me, with all of the headaches I've had there (Mazda of Lakewood), I'm never going back. This was the final thing due on the "We Owe" portion of the purchase. It took them over a month to get everything as we agreed in writing.
