Stock Navigation, yes or no?
I was wondering what your opinions on the stock navigation is and if its even worth getting. For a reference point, I am used to driving my brother's g35c (04) and the navigation is ok but kind of annoying to work with.
should i just get an aftermarket navigation system or is it worth it for the stock?
thanks in advanced.

In my opinion...it sucks. As far as bling factor having the popup hood its pretty sweet. Updates are expensive and far inbetween versus tomtom, garmin or whatever. Another good thing is you can get a few add-ons and pay dvd's and such on the navigation screen. To me it isnt worth $1500 or whatever it costs extra but if you buy a used RX-8 then its well worth it.

definitely not the greatest system out there. (quite far from it actually)
I have the Nav and it does come in quite handy from time to time.
There are plenty of great aftermarket units but getting them installed as nicely as the OEM will be tough..

I've got navigation in mine and I have a Garmin I-Que. When I was looking for my 8 I was specifically looking for one without Nav but got a great deal on mine so I took it. I prefer the interface on the Garmin.
Advantages: It’s convenient, there are options for displaying other things to the screen (though these can be expensive), and it is cool.
Disadvantages: Not at great interface, Very limited updates, $200 for updates is ridiculous, Issues reported with navigation to some locations on the maps, limited points of interest compared with other units I've used.
The negatives out weigh the positives.
If you have an standalone GPS or have plans to replace the HU with an aftermarket one I'd recommend going that route.
