Subwoofer for Bose stereo

Thanks for reading my post. My roommate bought a 2010 Civic EX and its audio system feels better than the bose stereo in my 2007 rx8 to me. I think it's because civic ex has a stock subwoofer. Finally I decided to put a subwoofer.

I researched a better audio system for stock bose stereo. I guess what I need are subwoofer, amp, and LOC. It is very basic info to people who have an expert knowledge but I know nothing about the car audio.

I have some questions.
1. What I want is deaper bass sound. I am not a sensitive music listener. I like the stock bose sound but all I need is more bass. Adding a subwoofer is the only way that can satisfy me?

2. Thru research, now I know that subwoofer, amp, and LOC are needed for putting a subwoofer into the stock bose system. Is this correct?

3. I am thinking a single 10" subwoofer. And I don't have much money to spend for the subwoofer because I am a student and I don't work. What product are cheap and good? Are some thread about this in rx8club? I hope it will be sealed one because I am not sure I can make a wood or fiberglass enclosure.

4. installation is easy? I just installed xcarlink couple days ago and it was hard to me. Do you think it is possible to install the subwoofer to me?

5. Overally, how much it would costs for all works?

$120 shipped Zenclosure Box (Custom fit to the RX8 Trunk)
$100-$500+ for a 10" subwoofer
$100-$500+ for an amp
$100+ for 1/0 Gauge Cable/remote wire/etc. etc.
$25 for hi-low converter

A good $500 (beginning)... and yes you can install it yourself Very Easily with simple tools. Where are you located? I have had a subwoofer system in my car but eventually you will get tired of it and will take it out. Too much Bass. Im happy with the way the stock system sounds. I suggest you look at some installations people have done here on the forum.

Thanks for quick reply. I live in MD. I just saw your bass system. How much it cost? I thought it would cost $200-300 for cheap one. 150-200 for amp and subwoofer, rest for other things. I found Kicker 10" 4Ohm 400watt Subwoofer for 70 bucks shipped. Those are not good? and should I spend more than $100 for wood enclosure? I thought it would be under $50 because it is just a wood case.

In My Honest opinion.. you either buy a Zenclosure subwoofer box.... or 4080 boxes (which are way way more expensive) The subwoofer and the amp is up to you on how much bass you want. At least get something name brand with warranty incase you blow your system.

$120 shipped for box
$77 shipped 12" Kicker CVR
$40 shipped for a 4g wiring kit with RCAs
$165 shipped Kicker ZX400.1
$25 for a LOC

I've installed probably 100 of that model amp. Awesome little guy. And ask for the subwoofer cutout hole on the box to be cut on the left side. Then mount the amp on the right side. 1.50cuft for that one 12" will be very nice indeed.

Total = ~$425 shipped

if your not looking for your rear view mirror to rattle off, and trying to keep it cheap. I'd say go for an infinity basslink. It's an amp and 10" sub built in one. Installation is as easy as it can get for car audio. it'll run you probably around $200.
