Is it hard to install a system? im not a retard but am no where close to a pro at audio stuff... i can hook up surround sound speakers dvd players and reciever all together... but is it hard to install? i am 95% done building my FG sub boxes and i saw the DIY wireing thing and doesnt look too hard... any audio pro can help me with supplies i might need i have 2 500/1 jl amps and 2 10w6v2's i think i need a 2 gauge (dont know what that means just told by JL) what else do i need? something like a spliter? and something because i have the factory head unit? help would be greatly appriciated.

Bose system you need the Audio Control 6XS, non Bose you need the Audio Conrol LC6 + bass remote. You also need to ground direct to the battery. There are numerous threads on the go right now that cover this topic.

Amps/Power: Run a 0/1 gauge wire from the battery and through the firewall (make sure it's fused near the battery) and to the trunk. Split the 0/1 into two 4 gauge wires with a fused distro block and run one 4 gauge to each of your amps. You can do the same exact thing for your ground wires. For the remote leads, I used a relay connected to a switch for manual control of my amp remote turn-ons (10-gauge wires).

If you have the patience to do some research to make sense of the above, and you have the confidence to make the first step, then you'll do ok...

This is the site I referenced for my builds: http://www.bcae1.com/
There are some nice calculators for wire gauges, etc. on there, as well as box calculators and more.

Here's a photo of the empty trunk...
