Hi,

I have a 04 one, How much on average do you think it'd cost for a shop to do this build?

It's not useless to tell you to search, I am helping you. Starting a thread in the wrong section, on a topic that has been discussed many times in useless.

Click on the link i provided above and you may be able to find the answer there. I cannot make a best estimate since I haven't done this.

Granted, I haven't done mine yet but I am estimating between 250-350 if you do it yourself. If you can solder (to make harnesses, not to splice into the system) then I really don't think its a shop install myself. Of course I haven't done this on the 8 but I've done similar (carpc) things long before there were any of the tools available today.

I've also seen a lot of threads that make it look much more complicated than I think it needs to be. I have a separate thread started and so far the only thing I am working on is hands free. I have a few ideas as work arounds but they would add another $50ish to the cost. I'm trying to see if I can play with the bluetooth stack and force my phone to play headset, if I can do that then everything is golden. Otherwise I'm going to have to set up a switch that pauses tablet audio and a separate bluetooth channel that runs into the pac unit to the amplifier. Not as elegant as the bluetooth stack mod but the driver wouldn't really know the difference. Hope that helps.

Mike

OP, you need to be far more specific about what you're looking for.

Are you thinking about a double DIN housing fully replacing the existing system or tapping into your existing stereo?

That decision point will drive you down two vastly different paths.

Choose wisely
