Tapping into the Sat Nav audio for Tablet?

It's my understanding that most people have used the cd changer adapters to get sound to their speakers from a car pc or tablet. However, I have a cd changer and don't want to lose the functionality. Additionally to this, I want to use my tablet for GPS but also for say radio. So is it possible to use the car radio for radio, then tablet for GPS voice instructions at the same time?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Adrian

Something to consider...

In the 4 years that I've owned my 8 I have inserted a total of 1 CD into its head unit and that was a 99 minute CD I burned the week I bought the car waiting for my xCarlink USB/SD adapter to arrive.

There's no reasonable need for a CD changer now-a-days. Like cassettes and 8 tracks before them they suffer from functional obsolescence.

I have a the Bose system with the 6disk in the dash in my 04. Haven't used it in 4 years.

GROM adapter with the Samsung Car Dock for my Galaxy S II saw to that.

I've been looking at doing something along those lines as well. I don't use many cd's but I don't want to loss the functionality. I listen to a lot of sat radio so I'm not sure if I'm listening to the radio if I could hear the the gps instructions.

Now I don't know if this is a solution and I'm sorry I don't know where I saw this mentioned, but you can add an audio switcher into the system. When it detects audio from the tablet or car computer it switches the audio feed to the tablet and will automatically switch back 10 secs after the line goes dead.

I think that is the option I'm going to once I find the thread either on this board or mp3car.com and do some more research. From the way it sounded I could use the tablet for what I wanted and keep the head unit fully working.

Well I guess the cd changer is less of an issue but tapping into the gps audio output would be great, as like I said having the car radio on and car tablet (with sat nav) at the same time would allow it to work in the same way it does now..

I also have the 6 disc Boss system, still have the same 6 cd's in it since I bought the car...

I use a iPod adapter for music, and luckily it has a aux jack that will work perfect for my tablet.

I don't think there is a nice way to do that. But realistically, how often are you going to be listening to the radio at all when you have a tablet at your disposal? For that rare occasion, say a sporting event, just look at the screen for directions when using the radio.

I was a little vague in my earlier post. The link below is what I was thinking of:

CL-SES - Car Audio - OEM Interface - System Expansion - JL Audio

I was thinking of hooking that into the current audio and then i would run a 3.5mm to RCA converter from the Tablet into the 1st slot. The radio would be in the second. That way the tablet would always over ride the radio. But If i could still listen to the cd player and radio.

Now I've not done this and I've only been trying to figure this out for a short time. So this is all just speculation.
