I want to replace my door marker lights, dome light, and map lights with Vleds but have one question. Is the dimming affected by the low load of the LEDs or is there any negative effects to running the LEDs? Thanks!

the dimming when u shut the door will go from behind smooth to instead being flickered and not smooth.

I'm using(just installed) the 6 LED from VLED's and I like them. Mine don't flicker and the shut off a little more abruptly than the standard bulbs(not much dim time.....kind digital as you'd expect), but its' not bad at all. Funny thing is that I haven't changed out my footwell lights yet and now those go off much faster than before. Anybody know what bulb size is used in the footwell lighting? It's much smaller than a #194.

Oh yeah..........Courtesy lights, map lights, trunk, license plate are all now LED's.
The H11 Hoen fogs go in this weekend as do the LED's for the parking lights!
Clear corners and turn signals are still just stealh bulbs for now.

I can only see the flicker in the daytime. Always looks smooth at night.

gains from LED replacement > negatives of the slight flicker

once you turn them on at night and see how nice they are, the small flicker effect wont bother you.

Yeah.....I now agree that I do see a slight flicker, but like the look sooooooooooo much better. I'm really happy with the VLED's. Thanks Jedi54 for making me think about it and then doing it.

i replaced my interior lights with leds from superbrightleds.com and never had any flickering problems... and as for the fading.. i dont remember how it faded before i put them in but i dont think that changed? maybe these problems are related to the leds u bought from others places. u should look into it. my license plate, side corners, and parking lights DO flicker. however, superbrightleds.com clearly mentioned they would fail when exposed to too much heat. So the reason why those failed is obvious because i have HIDS which cause lots of heat(not to mention the heat given off from the engine), and the license plate light is right above the cars exhaust, being exposed to the heat fumes it gives off. Other than the exterior leds no led should be burning out or flickering....

ps. ive had the "6led" bulbs installed in my interior lights for 2 years now and not one of the bulbs fail or flicker.

Every interior light is blue led.. right down to the glove box. Only lights I haven't gotten to are the courtesy lights in the doors above the window switches. They cast a red light and I'd really rather they be blue.

those lights arent ones you replace easily, u have to remove the red one and then u need to weld on blue ones. the only problem is #1 youll need a soldering kit, and #2 youll need 2 find a blue led to put there.... thats the only way i know how to change it. If anyone else knows of any other way please let me know.

It's only the courtesy lights(blue LED's) that flicker and it's only very briefly, and only very slightly. The footwell LEDs(now blue), the map lights(now blue), and the rear dome light(blue) don't do it at all. It's hardly even noticeable and strangely enough........as someone said....you can only see the courtesy lights in the door do it, and only in daylight, and only for an instant.

Parking lights, trunk, and License are all white 6LED and no flickers at all.

So........you've done the entire dash, steering wheel, radio/clock, center console switches.......etc?

i have blue leds for all the interior lights as well and i can assure u mine dont flicker lol.... after reading the thread i checked during the day and night and still didnt see any flickering

I plan on changing out my interior and exterior 194 bulbs to something super white.

Question is:
1. How does the light output compare between LED white and incandesent white (painted blue bulbs). Isn't the light brighter and better spread with incandesents?

2. How do the LEDs stand up to exterior application? Does heat really mess LEDs up in the headlight housing? Would'nt incandesents last longer?

I hope I can get some help between deciding between the LED route and the painted blue incandesent route.

Oh and lastly, what have you guys done for dome lights? I've read that it can be a bit of a crap shoot with LED festoons... any solutions or good advice would be appreciated.

Here's the answers to your questions:

LEDs give a much more clear, clean color and are brighter. for both exterior and interior applications. Since the LEDs use less power, they omit less heat than the standard bulbs. With using less power, they don't burn out as quickly so hence LEDs last longer. The only thing is the little flickering with using LEDs when you are in your car with all the doors closed otherwise, they don't flicker when you have a door open. The mildly-noticeable flickering is due to the dimming of the lights but as a owner with all (except for the dome light but soon to be replaced) interior lighting replaced with LEDS, I don't mind the little flickering.

I have a festoon LED on order so I'll let you know in a couple days how that goes.

i am interested in swapping all my interior lights for red leds. was wonering if it was as simple as just swapping out for an led bulb? if so what type?

well i poked around there sight didnt see to mucn info.

was more trying to do it locally light at radio shack or something. i guess i just need to know what type of led i need for the lights interior

i love mine, got all red bulbs except glove box and sun visors.
