Troubleshooting Theories on BOSE system?

Hey guys. I wanted to throw my dilemma on here and see what some of you guys think. I bought an '05 GT a few months ago and along with it came some stereo issues.

The previous owner had a Clarion APX4241 wired in to replace the OEM bose amp {My guess would be that the amp went bad}. The installation shop {I'm assuming} tapped into the amps wiring harness for inputs of the front and rear speakers {which were hooked to the amp using the speaker level inputs} and did the same thing for getting the 'Clarion amplified' signal back to the speakers.

Needless to say the Clarion amp {not having the BOSE EQ curve built in} sounded like hell. I found a BOSE amp on the 'bay' and picked it up for $150. I pulled all the crap out and returned everything to stock. The highs & mids sounded a million times better and I knew I was headed in the right direction. My problem is bass. The low end is nowhere near what it should be when compared to a friend of mines '04 GT {w/ BOSE of course} I did notice that the amp I installed said it was for an '04 w/ cloth {pretty sure it's not significant, but thought I'd mention}. I read somewhere that it was believed that the front speakers were amplified by their own separate amp in the doors and the the Bose amp only EQ'd all the outputs and amplified the rears. Can anyone confirm this? If so, could running this speaker level output to the front cause my front amps to be subpar when it comes to bass but fine with the highs? My thinking would be that it either works or not.

Interested in hearing some thoughts.

Pretty sure there is an amp in the door driving the 9" speakers.

I have an '04 with BOSE and believe me.... it doesnt have lows, the highs could be better, and the mids arent that great. I came from a 1996 Mazda 626 with a custom speaker set up that cost me $1000 that my father and I did ourselves. That was almost 5 years ago and that system sounds so much better then this BOSE. I had 2x 5x7 Infinity speakers in the doors and 2x 6x9 Infinity's in the rear dash. 2x 12" MTX subs powered by a 1000 watt amp. The Infinity speakers had insane highs and amazing mids, but sucked on lows... really sucked bad. Which is why i bought them. Because the subs provided the needed bass and it equaled out beautifully. I miss it soo much.

But like i said... The BOSE system, coming from what i had, is not all that great. Then i look at how it was installed and i think to myself "wtf were they thinking?"
