Upper/Center Dash Removal

hey guys, i have been searching the forums for a while now. i am trying to find a DIY on removing the center top piece of the dash where the nav screen normally goes. i dont have the nav unit though. i am thinking of putting in a storage compartment there. how much room is under there? does anyone have pictures of it removed? anyway, if you could either point me to the right threads, or help me out...post here or email me @ tksnoborsd@gmail.com.

thanks in advance...

so does it just pull and pop right off or do you need to remove the lower and radio panels first?

I'm not sure if you have to pull the radio, but I'm pretty sure the bolts for the upper/center dash are behind the heater vents...you might have to pull the radio to pull the heater vents...

The center top dash piece doesnt have any bolts, just pops up and off...the only bolts are the one hidden one, which is a 10mm i think way up under the side up the dash by the drivers right leg, that goes into the side of the stock radio. Pain in the ***. . After the top is off, youll see the two screws on either side holding the top of the radio, and the heater vents to the dash.

The top section is off.

The lower section, unscrew the shifter ****, pop off the center console top (where the switches are) Take the screws out that hold the bottom of the ashtray assembly in place, and pull out the ashtray assembly. If im not mistaken, thats it, everything comes out of the dash. Total amount of screws and bolts 5 i think, and your dash is apart from the top center console, all the way to your center console. Hope that all helps

Ok so to just take off that top center piece i just pull forward and up? I tried the other day but couldnt get it off. Im thinking i just didnt pull hard enough but i was not sure if it had two screws holding it in place.

You need to pull forward the stereo( OR REMOVE IT)...remove a couple of screws for the vents..pop them forward..and then remove the 2 screws that hold on the front of the upper panel

You can't remove it without removing the lower stuff without breaking it.......
