USB DVD Player

Does anyone know if I can get a slot loading USB DVD, similar to a laptop drive, to fit where the blank is located on the lower half of the head unit? I don't think it is wide enough, but looking at the CD player slot, it might work.

Anybody have a carputer with a separate USB DVD player remotely located in other place?

My order from MP3Car is due in today and that is the first thing I am going to find out is if the slot loading drive will fit there. I even ordered an extra blank in case I screw up with the dremel. The one I ordered is 0.5 lbs and 5.07” x 5.03” x 0.5” are the dim. I am hoping it will work. I'll know more when the package arrives.

Well the verdict is it will work IF you just cut the slot for the drive, but then the eject button is covered. No way I could flush mount this drive at all. Even the slot I think might look out of place because you have to cut the slot so high. It would need something under it like V1 display to balance it out. My Xenarc however fit like a glove with no cutting

I installed a slot loading DVD/CD-RW drive where the factory cd player was. It fit perfectly and worked well, however I have since relocated it to the rear console because I wanted to install the OEM six disc.
Heres a link to where it is installed now:
