Using NAV LCD for CarPC

Hi,

I'm a new member here - had my 2004 RX8 Japanese import for a good few months now. I'm over in NZ and as I don't speak Japanese and there doesn't seem to be any obvious sat nav data of this region, my NAV LCD and buttons are pretty useless.

I was recently looking at the following link about using Win Media Center as a CarPC:

HossWeb Pics Here

And that led me to thinking wouldn't it be great to use the NAV LCD as monitor for CarPC and the sat nav controls by the gear shift as the remote control for Media Center.

I've been trying to read up a few threads about how to get audio into the stock head unit - there seems to be some progress here: i.e. at Sylfex but I've not yet read anything about interfacing into the NAV LCD. I do have a useless Japanese frequency TV tuner in my RX8, but again, with it not being able to pick up correct signal ranges, its nigh on useless.

Anyone had similar thoughts or been able to do anything similar.

This would make such a cool car even cooler!

Thanks in advance.
-DK
