KVM 2-port PC Computer Monitor/Keyboard Sharing Switch

i think you could make this work.. its not what i was thinking of.. but it does have rgb input... you might have issues with ther Sync thow.

Btw Soon i hope to start selling the Avelectronincs Box. I will know this week.
Not sure what your budget is but thats what i run in my car. I love it.

I think that Avelectronic has them for about 500.00 if they let me sell them i may be able to do better. Can you hold on for a few days?

I think the main reason most of us don't want to use the avelectronics box is (aside from it's ricockulous price) is the lack of resolution. Composite NTSC isn't quite beautiful enough for computer use.

Sorry but svideo quality is certainly not worth $600. With about $120 worth of parts I made my switch that gets the monitor crisp VGA @ 800x600. Though the true res looks to be a lot less.

its about the total package. 3 inputs 3 outputs and the Nav Through and Back up camera input all in the same box. Svideo if you want it but like i said. My laptop and my DVD look Great on that small LCD.. remember that the Small LCD will help the Res alot. ..

But to each his own.. I really like the fact that the AV box is eveything i need all in one box and it all works with a very small hand held remote.

I could also make my own but whos got time for that. Besides with the price of my ride the 500 bucks was a good buy for a t.v tunner 3in 3out back up camer in. Nav switchable out with remote. its a lot of bang for the buck.. Like i said I hope to sell it cheaper..

if a kvm switch will work, does it make sense that a vga switch will work as well ? You can probably get something cheaper if you don't need the mouse and keyboard function, right ?
Something like this ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...127773526&rd=1

yeah I know....I have via motherboard, which has Vga out and composite video out and s-video out....Vga being the best quality I am trying to fgure out a way to make is connect to the screen...thats one....
Two....i dont expect (one) to happen, so I am going to get that 90$ composite to rgb+s board...do some easy soldering, and then get a switch box vga switch box is better than kvm, but thew saied that the sync might not work...

So i am tryign to figure out (befoer i buy) is what switch I can create, or buy, or how to wire to the vga switch.....(should i use the horizontal sync input for vga switcher?)
does it matter...?

OK.. heres a good question.. How much would you all pay and what options do you really want. ? I am trying to carry a package (A/V input switcher, Pie aux audio input etc...) deal with an adapter so you dont have to cut the Mazda Harness to get the video into the system.
So tell me how much is to much? and what you really want. ...

Something below $350 would be acceptable. Beyond that the thoughts of a new LCD come to mind immediately.

actually Paul if you can put together a DIY of how to replace the stock screen with a much higher resolution one with no problems...or even better, a high resolution touch screen

we could open a dialogue in thew's vendor section of the forum and discuss which would be the best screen and what would be the best screen to replace the factory one

I'm sure I could convince Thew to carry them on rx8garage.net

Paul you are one of the only (if not the only) one of us who has actually taken the nav screen apart besides Mazda service guys (and there are few of them as well)

I just want simple functionality. I just want a switch where I can go between a DVD player and the Nav system. Don't need anything fancier than that. Cheap and easy.

The take down on the LCD is pretty easy. Eventually I'll feel guilty enough to grab the photos off my camera and put a DIY on the touchscreen. A lot of these threads are gettin' silly.
