Viper Alarm & Auto Start
#2
I had the Viper 790XV installed. It's a great alarm, but according to the installers (who did an beautiful job, BTW) it was a royal pain in the **** since the wiring diagrams weren't available (don't know if they are now or not....)
I had to sign a sheet of paper saying that they did not install the remote start because they weren't able to tap into the gear sensor to prevent the car from starting if it was in gear (making remote start pretty dangerous). I don't use it often, but it's really nice to have for the cold shutdown procedure. I usually end up parking in the back of the driveway and my roommate leaves before I do, so I can move the car, remote start it and let it run for 5 mins or so while I'm back in the house getting ready for work....

no one is able to do it because the car is very new. The wiring diagrams that installers go by are not available yet, so it might be a while until they get the diagrams which allows them to install alarms because if you are doing ignition kill, window rollup, etc. you need to know the right wires.
