Voodoo shift knob review

I agree the AFE ss is awesome except for the increased vibration and noise. I was able to eliminate about 80% of both with a simple trick. First, rap all exposed metal with some tennis racket handle tape, the real thin kind that is self-adhering and slightly spongy, it is good sound insulator. Then go to any sporting goods store that sells archery supplies and get a set of Sims' Limbsavers, the kind that have a plastic back up plate to mount on bow limbs, they are about 1 1/4" in diameter, remove the plastic plate and cut a small hole (an X) in the center to allow the threaded portion of the ss to go through it. Insert it as far as it will go and then thread your **** as far as it will go so the Sims is compressde about 50%. Now you will feel very little vibration or noise even while holding the **** in neutral or at high speed! I can post pix but need to remove boot so if anyone is interested I will.

Darkbrew,
Looking forward to a better boot!
Well I'm still finding it a bit stiff. Part of the problem may be that I am not quite used to it. I find 2nd to 3rd is a simple flick. 3rd to 4th smooth as well. But 1st to 2nd is a bit weird. I tend to pull a bit to the left (to make sure I'm not going into 4th) and ... well, it's just stiffer than I would have expected. I wonder (hope) mine came pre-greased, didn't notice. Also, I read that over time transmission fluid (or oil?) will come up and lubricate it all better. It's also been very cold so that might make it stiffer, too. When the car is warm, it is much smoother. I'm just hoping it's a question of learning (remembering) the gears are closer and adapting to that, the reduced height, and the ball **** itself.
Did yours feel really smooth from the start? Did you have it installed in winter or summer? I hope there's nothing wrong, how could there be? Would really appreciate hearing from others because i don't know how this should feel. I've been driving stick for many years but it always takes a little while to learn the nuances of each shifter. I hope that's all it takes.
I have noticed some buzzing, mostly in 4th. It's not an unpleasant sound so far. That green material is removed.
I like the customized artwork on the **** but it was a pain to line it up straight. I might regret that I got some artwork because now every time I remove it I'll have to mess around with aligning it. Might have been smarter to just get piano black.
