Water and heated SHINKA seats! HELP!
OMG! I'm SO pissed! At who.......MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I made the mistake of allowing a friend to drive my car while I was in it. However he left the window down about 2 inches. I didn't think about it since my window was up. <- again...and again.. Well It POURED this morning....SO now I have a soaked 06 Shinka driver's seat with the Sand Alcantara leather. I know it will dry and I know that I'm going to have to vaccuum the bejeesus out of it to get the water out..My main concern though is how the heating system is wired into the seats and will it effect the motor, heat sensors, whatever is in there that makes them get warm.
I also know that those seats are $525 a piece! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Lesson learned? YEAH>>>>>>>>>>NEVER allow someone else to drive my car. I never do, I don't know why I did this time. I guess I was just tired.

Vac up the water...and use some leater conditioner on the seats before they dry...and let the seats dry comletely before you turn on the heater..and you should be OK.
Most electrical circuits are OK wet...as long as you don't energize them when they are wet

RD, I would think that Mazda (or whomever makes the seats) has take steps to make sure that any electrical connections for the heaters, seat motor, etc. are waterproofed. They have to engineer these things for the "dumbest" (I'm not implying anything about you or your friend!) drivers and that means people who will spill God only knows what on their seats.
The elements for the heater are going to be wrapped anyway or else they would set the seat on fire.
I would be worried more about the seats staining!!!

Actually The seats are dry after much vacuuming and blow drying, hehehe....Its 30 degrees windchill about 15, and I'm outside with a blow dryer connected to an extention cord. My neighbors must have thought I was nuts. I had a friend also explain to me that the heaters were indeed sealed ( brought up the fire scenario too) so I had nothing to worry about. I panicked I admit, but I was SO mad at myself. No stains.. so I'm good. I will give certain areas still time to dry, and I won't use the heat system in the seats till the weather warms and I know for sure that all is well, but otherwise, I'm good. Thanks for all the advise.
