Weird Metra kit setup

Weird Metra kit setup
Just recently installed a Metra Kit.
& Im fallowing the instructions to setup the unit by holding down the A/C button.
Heres a copy of the instructions.
http://www.metraonline.com/files/pro...NST99-7510.pdf
Just one problem.
Holding down the A/C button doesn't do anything.
Is there another way?
I can see the button working. The AC indicator comes on the display and the light is on within the button.
So i Know the buttons working.
I double checked the connects; everything's working great accept setup.
Also trail-and-error I held down the middle MODE button below A/C and it turned off Ambient temp display.
When the instructions say that's within setup after holding down the A/C button.
My questions are;
has anyone experience this before?
Am I doing something wrong here?
Or did i get the ugly duckling in the batch of Metra Kits?
Pic to show everything else is working. Even the Metra Rx8 logo uptop.

Hold down the mode button until it gets to the desired option. I think it goes ambient temp - time - display title. Work fast, because if you leave it for more then like 3 seconds it will exit programming mode.

ive noticed the instructions say A/C Mode button.
Is this the A/C + Mode button at the same time? these instructions suck.
holding down the Mode button turns off and on Ambient temperature display.
Once it turns off the display does that mean im in the setup mode & i should press something to scroll through the settings?
good kit but **** instructions.

Quite honestly, it's a **** kit too. It's getting harder and harder for me to recommend it to anyone, with all the problems we have. Though I can chalk some up to poor installation and user error, there's PLENTY of bugs...

I had my aftermarket headunit installed before the Metra kit existed, so I can't be of any more help than the owners manual is. I'd just try a variety of buttons to see if you can get it to work. If not, try unplugging the Axxess box and then re-plugging it in. If still no help, yeah, you can send it back. Or just live with it.

You're only supposed to hold down the mode button to switch between the programming options.
The instructions says to hold down the "A/C Mode Button" not the A/C and Mode buttonS. Your unit it working as it should, just reading the instructions wrong.

Just the "mode" button. Hold it down, and after it does the ambient temp it will then say set time. Once it does, keep an eye on the clock and use the "a/c" button to add minutes and the front defrost button to add hours. If you go too far you will have to make a full loop. Sorry can't back up.

yeah holding down the Mode button and u keep holding it to have the system change to next setting.
I dont know why it says A/C in the instructions because you dont hold the A/C at all.
Stupid fuqing dumb *****.
Threw me off cuz when i held the Mode button u see a change than u automatically let go and I seen that the temp display turns off and on when u do that because its the first setting.
And of course throwing in A/C in front of Mode in their instructions.

Yes metra kit has had some functionality problems, but it annoys me to see that you think they wrote the instructions wrong. The kit has been out for many years now and I haven't seen one post similar to yours. They wrote the instructions CORRECTLY. It is the A/C Mode button not the A/C button that you were pressing.
It is the mode button for the air condition, hence the A/C Mode button.
Don't call someone "stupid fuqing dumb *****" when you are the one who can't read or type correctly.

Is there a reason to call me a douche bag? I didn't call you a name or try to degrade your character whatsoever.
"A/C Mode" is the name of the button. It is the mode button for the air conditioner and it has everything to do with activating the setup because that is how you enable the box to scroll through the programming options.
