What is needed to install a OEM Navi setup

Was wondering what is all needed to install the navigation setup into a 8 that was equipped with it

Whole upper dash setup with screen
Shifter Bezel with buttons
DVD Player (in the glove box area right?)

My real big concern/question is the wiring. Did all the 8s come pre wired for it and just some didnt have it installed?

Thanks for the help guys

It's expensive and fairly difficult. If you search the DIY section you will find what you are looking for. That said, the factory DVD NAV is horrible, and has no updates so why would you want it?

then make it a sticky if it pops up so often, thats why i posted in the interior/audio section.

not everyone automatically knows about the search and there are so many different ways to phrase it as well.

but..... glad i was able to waste your time haha

We've tried making a new sticky. I still work on it from time to time. Maybe that should be added in there.

Even if you're getting all the equipment for free, it is a boat load of work for a mediocre navi at best. Replacing the headunit with an aftermarket navi yields a much better navigation experience as well as better sound quality, DVD play back, bluetooth, on screen iPod control, etc etc etc.

^ I second that. I have the factory nav, the biggest plus of which is the display pops up very close to your line of sight. The biggest minus comes from only being a single-sided DVD-ROM database: the resolution of the maps is poor in rural areas. Personally, I'm keeping the Bose HU, which, with other mods (speakers, panel-dampening, subwoofer) works well-enough, but it's not a "logical" decision. (I think the uniquely styled center-stack is in character with the 8's overall uniqueness, plus the Metra messes up how the Goodbox works). However, even a cheap new Garmin hand-held works better than the factory nav system from ~2004.

I happen to be removing my factory nav to replace the HU with a new one that has improved navigation.

Like the OP, I am wondering if I need to remove the wiring in order to sell my OEM nav or do the 8's come pre-wired for the OEM nav option?

8's without factory nav don't come wired for it. It's certainly not plug and play. Also, just to correct the OP, I believe the navi DVD player is under the center arm rest by the rear seats.
