Is this a place for mounting the PDA/Phone holder? I took the cover off, it's just an opening.

 

I think it's supposed to be an indicator light telling you when the passenger airbag is disabled. I guess the US spec cars don't have a way to disable the airbag, so we don't have an indicator.

Here's a pic from RotaryNews' Laguna Seca trip from way back in January...

 

Even though it's a mirror layout, the blank is in the same place in Oz spec cars.

 

I don't know if it's true but my sales rep told me the passenger side airbag could be disabled but only at the dealer in the U.S. FWIW

That would be a nice place for a third 12V outlet.

Thanks for the info. Too bad there's no bracket behind the opening, otherwise it would be a perfect place to mount the PDA/Phone holder.
