I'm using a basslink but my settings won't help you. I use speaker to line level converters to feed my amp and use the output from the amp pass thru to feed the basslink. If I were you I would set it up like this:

Turn on stereo while parked. Use a high quality CD with a good bass line.

Play it at about 50% or more level (volume) - loud enough to hear the changes you're making to the basslink. Not so loud that it masks your ability to hear musical/ bass nuances.

Adjust the gain until the level of the basslink is distinctly heard with the music at a comparable level.

Increase the the crossover frequency until the bass starts to sound boomy and then crank the crossover down until the boom goes away and you're left with bass without boom.

Re-adjust the gain until it sounds good to you. Don't overdo it or the bass will sound artificial.

Close the trunk and doors and listen noting the level of the bass from the drivers seat.

Get out and switch the phase to the opposite polarity.

Go back in the car and listen to the bass level. Try to note if the bass level increases or decreases. If it increases, leave the polarity at that setting. If it decreases, swith it back. If you can't tell, it doesn't matter.

Re-tweak gain/bass boost to your liking.

You may end up tweaking several times as you listen to other music to get the optimal sound for the widest variety of music.

Others may have different/ better ways to do the setup, but this process works for me.

Good luck!
