What are your Bose stereo settings?

For those of you who have not altered the stock Bose stereo sytem, what are the settings you use for playing music?

The following template below might be useful to help display for others. If not, at least mention what settings you have for each option.

Audio Pilot: on/off
Treble: -/0/+
Bass: -/0/+
Balance (F/R): +/0/-
Fade (L/R): L/R

I am fiddling with my stock Bose system and would like to hear what people have to improve the sound. From research, most boost the treble from +4 to +6 and the bass from +2 to +4. Audio Pilot is a mixed bag and some even suggested fading to the rear 2 to 4.

Thanks for any posts!

I have bass at 6 (I guess I'm a moron) and have it faded front 1... that's always sounded best to me, and from what I've heard you really don't want to be hearing the rear speakers.

Mine are off most of the time because I like hearing the sound of the engine, but when they are on the settings are:

treble=-2
Bass= +3
Fade=rear 0

I think it was forbidden that said it best... Front speakers are center stage and the rears fill in. You want to hear them but you want it to be mostly from the fronts.

I don't have a bose... and I don't change my HU because my 3.SIXTY sound processor does a much better EQ job but I have it faded just slightly to the front so it sounds like the singing and highs are up front.. but you can still hear the rears nice n loud

fade - F1
Sub - KRANKED! (well sometimes)

So far pretty varied. Don't forget to mention if Audio Pilot is on/off.

I've boosted both treble and bass but havent fiddled with fade yet. I will try so today.

Remember though that all people hear differently. Some people drive with the windows down which always results in a increased treble response. Some people do not listen to bass heavy music, thus their bass level may be set flat. It all depends on the listener and what they like, their is no one best setting for all and as shown above with more to come, peoples settings are all over the map.

FYI, think of bass and treble controls as secondary volume controls. The more you turn them up, the sooner the amp hits the point of clipping and you hear distortion. The bass setting will affect this far sooner than the treble setting will. Pay close attention to your settings if you are the type of person to turn up the volume on a regular basis.

Audio Pilot = Off (Usually)
Bass = Flat to +2 (Depending on music and listening volume)
Treb. = +5
Fade = 0
Bal. = 0
Beep = Off (Unless trying to annoy my passengers)

Used an AudioControl 6XS to add sub channel & boost the signal to the Bose amp. (More volume w/ less distortion!!!!)

Audio Pilot: off
Treble: 0
Bass: +3
Balance (F/R): 0
Fade (L/R): 0

When I get around to adding the 12 inch sub the bass will be lowered on the head unit and controlled with a Bass Cube by Phoenix Gold.

I might have to bump the treble up then also.

volume is typically between 6 and 9. I've sometimes gone as high as 12, but that's very rare.

Well after doing some in car fiddling, car stopped and engine off. I decided on these settings for the moment.

Audio Pilot: off
Treble: +5
Bass: +4
Fade and Balance: 0

I found that the treble was pretty lifeless until it got turned up to +5, but +6 was too much. At +5, cymbals were crisp but not to shrill.

Bass is the trickiest. Too low and no bass, too high and it gets muddy and affects vocals. With Audio Pilot off, I found +4 was a good choice. If I had AP on, I would probably turn it down to +3 or lower.

Audio Pilot--I initially had it turned on until I started sampling the same passages over and over with it on/off. I found that the vocals sounded more "forward" with it on, but less crisp and clear. It's a tradeoff it seems. I went with off for the moment.

Audio Pilot: On
Treble: +3
Bass: -1
Fade / Balance: 0
Beep: Off

Volume level is usually around 17-22. I suppose I enjoy listening to my music loud. Every other car I have had I have blown the speakers due to the bass and volume level. I suppose I am being conservative with the (-1) Bass level, but at volume 20 the slightest bass hits hard. I usually ride with my windows down, so maybe that is why my volume level is high??

Audiopilot off
bass 0
treble +1
fade-bal 0

I do have a heavy *** sub, but i'm only giving 50-100watts from a much more capable amp

Sounds fantastic, cranked it to 28 earlier today for testing, sounds super, with doors open i'm sure you can still hear balanced sound 50' away
