that would help if it wasnt a direct connect mazda ipod controller. thanks. does it have anything to do with the grounding of the car? i have seen all sorts of grounding kits for the cars... does it really help? what is the purpose?

sounds like a grouding issue to me.
I had an aftermarket system installed in my last car and I'd get a high pitched whine from it. They ended up running some kind of ground loop and all was fixed.

You have the ipod plugged into a power supply? Maybe thru a cig liter? Might be comming in from there.

the only thing that the unit gets plugged into is the aux port on the back of the factory radio.

is that only happening when you play music off the ipod? if so exchange the ipod unit. or is it happening w/ your radio/cd too? maybe you loosened a ground connection when you pulled the radio out.

it only happens when i play the music through the ipod. i wonder if it has anything to do with where i placed the unit? i ran it down the center console that way the ipod would be in my cup holder area and i could grab it and go. i unplug it everyday for the gym. just thought it would be easier access there instead of the glove box

it really wasnt harder. you have to take the center console out anyways to plug it in to the back of the radio. the cord goes right around the shifter and the module sits right on the center hump under the plastic between the cup holder and the shifter.
