Wierd Amp/Subwoofer Problem
Hi everyone, my first post!
Here is my problem, I have a bose system in my car, I first tried to wire my Audio Control 6XS from the preamp wires. From there I went into a rockford fosgate amp, and finally into my JL Audio 10s.
When the RCA plugs are plugged into the amp 1/2 way so only the center pin is touching the bass works fine, but if I push the plug in all the way the bass cuts out.
From there I tried to get input from the rear speakers after the bose amp.
Now the bass is stronger with the RCAs plugged in 1/2 way, but if they are in all the way the subs just distort like I have bad noise in the wires, even with 0 volume.
Can someone help me with this wierd problem?
The only thing else I can think of is to cut the negative wire off of the RCA plugs going into the amp, although it makes no sense to me how it works with only the positive side.

Sounds like you have a wire crossed going to the 6XS, but I can't imagine you doing it twice if you tried before & after the amp. If you cut RCA plugs and soldered in, make sure the + & - isn't touching each other on either channel. Try another source (Ipod or something) before & after the 6XS and see if it changes. Could just be the amp. I know my cheap RF amp induces some noise.

Tried hooking an Ipod first directly through the amp, worked just fine.
Tried hooking the Ipod from the X-over to the amp, worked with alot more bass.
The subs only worked with the RCAs plugged in all the way.
None of the connections were touching each other in a bad way.
Do you think I have a faulty RCA wire somewhere?

Do you think I have a faulty RCA wire somewhere?Possibly, but it sounds like you have a + & - crossed where you tied them in.

They can't be crossed, I soldered the connections today and have only done the left channel off of the left rear 6x9. I haven't taped them up yet and can still see the connections. Positive to Purple and Negitive to Pink.

When tapping the rear speakers, use these colors:
Left Rear + is Purple
Left Rear - is Pink
Right Rear + is Black/Blue
Right Rear - is White/blue

# Bose radio:
* Door tweet left +R -W (door speaker connected direct to amp)
* Door tweet right +W/R -Y/R (door speaker connected direct to amp)
* Centre mid +L/B -G/Y
* Rear left +V -P (tweeters are co-axial, same colors)
* Rear right +W/L -B/L (tweeters are co-axial, same colors)
most importantly
Right Rear + white/blue
- Black/blue
which is backwards of what you have.. try to switch those and give it a shot
but then you say you have only done the left side... so I dunno..

Black/Blue should be negative.
Black/White should be positive
Fix this and your problem should be solved.

and speaking of "Wierd" problems..
isn't it weird that the word "weird" is an odd exception to the i before e rule... thats just for future reference jeudew
and I'm not trying to rag on you for bad english.. It was explained to me a long time ago... and I noticed that it is quite ironic, and I can't help bring it up when I see it.
