TX Will a 50" TV fit in the back seat?

Does anyone have experience with this?
I just got a new RX8 and I am preparing my black friday shopping
I know I am looking for a 40"+ TV

anyone have any experience with putting one through the back doors, or laying the passenger side seat flat and twisting it in that way?

I don't understand why this car has no trunk space. there is no spare tire.
do we just need a huge gas tank for the bad gas mileage or is it just that double muffler canister taking up all the space?

It should fit. I did it a few years back and believe me it sucked to get in. The attendants that brought it out thought I was joking. You have to put your driver and passenger seat down but you should be able to get it in there. Just think tetris music.

It will def fit without the box, but you need to remember that the box itself adds maybe an extra inch or two to the width and height, and probably about a total of 6 inches in depth.

thanx for the replies

oic, so what you are saying is I can also put the driver and passenger side seats down, then use the TV as a back rest?
hmmm, I'm not driving too far so maybe that's an option
I had to remove one box many years ago, but that was the old square style TVs

I fit a desk, desk chair, pizza and groceries in my car once. Pretty sure your TV will fit.

On a side note, thank GOD I read your post. I was about to go into flame on mode thinking you wanted to fiberglass a 50" TV into your back seat for a show car style mod.

kind of late to the post...and it being after balck friday..

i got a 50" a while back ago shipped to house...there is no way it would fit in my rx8. the box STOCK box was so beefed up it was ridiculous.

I have seen different brands with thinner boxes. but my Samsung was a beast.

Pay for it, then tell the store you'll be back to pick it up later (all big box stores will allow this). Find a friend with a truck.

Or pay for delivery. 50 bucks isn't worth my time or worth the chance of me scratching up my interior.

Talking

I just got a new office chair for my house. Had to take it out of the box,and put it in the back seat. That was a pain, do you know how many parts them things have? lol
Hope you got your TV home OK. If not, I have a friend with a truck that we can pick it up for ya...can't promise that we'll remember where to drop it off at.

The back seat may be kinda tight, but the passenger seat will slide right forward until the headrest touches the windshield!

Even more space if you slide it all the way forward, then lay the back flat onto the rear seat - I bet a big plasma would fit, easy peasy.

My 42" Panasonic Plasma would not fit in my car. It barely fit in my fiancee's 2nd generation Rav4.

i dont know if there is a definite answer to this or not, and i know its a rather old thread. but just for the sake of people searching the same topic and needing the answer..

THE 50" PLASMA TV WILL NOT FIT IN THE CAR!!

i tried a couple months ago, bought the tv at best buy and we even took it out of the box, not a chance it was going to fit. and if somebody has figured out a way to. absolutely amazing....
