Will the 6 disk changer Bose work in my 8 even if I just had the single disk Bose?

I think my Bose died so I think I'm gonna just cop another one from ebay or something. But I was wondering, could I just install one of the 6 disk changer models without any special modification? Hell maybe even the a SAT model.

Thanks in advance

the factory radio is modular, so switching out the regular cd for the 6 disc should work assuming everything else worked before the swap. (as far as I know, never replaced anything on mine so maybe someone else can confirm )

I replaced the module for the CD from a 1 disk to a 6 disk changer. It is pretty easy to do. The 6 disc module is the same for most Mazda vehicles (the 3, 6 and RX8 for sure). You can find directions on the forum somewhere.

If you just replace the module Bose doesn't play a factor. If you replace the whole HU you need to use the appropriate version.

Good information! That answered exectly what I was wondering. Where did you get yours from and how much?

I bought a whole Mazda 3 HU on e-bay w/ the 6 disk for ~$50. I still have the Mazda 3 HU in the closet w/ my single disk in it. I really need to get that back on e-bay.
