Wiring to ignition source?

Where is the best/easiest place to wire something to an ignition source?

In behind the radio, just wire whatever you want into the power wire for your radio, as it turns on from your ignition lets power pass through to your radio with the turn of the key. Hope that helps!

first off: going behind the radio is the worst thing ever and I plan to never do it again lol
second: the radio turns on with accessory, i need ignition only.

I tried searching, it was hard to distinguish what was accessory vs ignition.
I think wiring to the power of "room fuse" would be my best best. Is that under the hood or in the cabin? (sorry not by my car atm)

Depends what you're trying to power. More than a few amperes, you need to wire in a relay to constant power and use ignition power to trigger it.

its an Airlift V2 ecu. It just power, ground, ignition.

Ah. So you're fine then.

Remember to fuse any wire you add on. I'd also advise against "fuse taps" or just wrapping bare wire around the leg of an OEM fuse.

I'm pretty sure it comes with a fuse in the wire I have to put to the ignition source. I wouldn't "fuse tap" ever lol. I would use one of those non-cut splices I think where I just put the two wires next to eachother and clamp down.

LOL Those are "cut splices" in every shape and form. Commonly known as T-taps. What did you think is happening when you clamp down? You're forcing the metal blade through the insulation and cutting strands of the OEM wire. MECP guidelines is to avoid using those altogether. Military splice and solder.

If you don't want to solder, fine. But use 3M 33+ tape and run a zip tie around it to keep the tape from ever unraveling. And before anyone says anything, again, you can't use heatshrink on a wire that's connected at both ends.

So do you recommend to use the "room fuse" to tap into for ignition?

Any ignition source is fine for your needs. The ECU just uses that wire to tell it the car is started. Doesn't pull any real power from it.
