I don't understand this part: "as for power supply swap...you open the xbox install a DC powersupply (like swapping one on a computer...it isn't as easy as it sounds so stick with the inverter idea)".
Sorry but I don't speack English very well

The power supply on an xbox is AC -> 12volt DC
The power on the car is 12volt DC.
If you were to get a different power supply on the Xbox that was DC -> DC, then you wouldn't need an invertor.
BUT:
It's easier to just get a DC -> AC invertor for the car and hook it up to the xbox's AC -> DC power supply.

the xbox powersupply is AC you would need to convert it to 12v DC
you need a NEW special powersupply INSIDE the xbox that is a DC based power supply
IT WILL BE EASIER IF YOU:
just get a simply inverter a DC to AC power inverter...they sell them at ANY ELECTRONIC STORE (even basic department stores...like a 'Walmart' in Italy type of place)
good luck...you are one funny guy with your posts

I dont mean to be a dick dude... but you sure do seem to "expect" everything handed to you without doing any work or research whatsoever....
If you read the entire post you will see I used a SMARTXX V2 Chip to mod my Xbox... It uses an Evolution X (EVOX) skinning program (hint: search for those words on your search engine). If you have to have someone tell you where to put a power inverter for your car, I honestly think you shouldnt even attempt this project. I have sent you the Jpegs that i used for the skin, hell, i even sent you the cfg file. But I dont have the time to draw you pictures or write a step by step of the process.... Its all pretty simple... You need 3 things... A Nav unit, an AVElectronics switcher, and an Xbox.... From there, its jut wiring it up and if you need to have it professionally installed....and it sounds like you do... I would suggest you do that.... There are alot of X-box mod sights online....you just have to search for them.... try "X-box mod chip" or "x-box skins".
So quit being lazy...and quit askin for hand outs...

No the first pictures are of XBMC and not Ebolution X.
I already modify my nav unit. See my wanderfull Italian guide on www.rx8tribe.com I need on the procedure to XBMC, but now I understand that you Usu EvolutionX skin. The picture you send me,are for Evox and not how I think for XBMC. Ok Thanks.
If you find a good place to install inverter, call me. Thanks

FYI, I found these DC-DC power supplies. Not sure if they put out enough watts, or if the price is worth it anyway.

XBOX crazy
well I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's breaking laws with the xbox. I have my modded, skinned and overclocked xbox installed in my 8 but I'm working on making it factory looking right now. The best way to power the xbox is through a power inverter ( I bought mine off ebay for like $30) they make ones that are designed to specificly run game consoles. I'm thinking that the noise that you're hearing can be solved with a common ground unit if it's an electronic interference. It could be the power inverter you are using though. Try another one if the common ground doesn't work.
Oh as far as I know there are not any replacement power supplies for the xbox. If you look at it, it is a very unique device. If you want to invest is some overclocking mods then search ebay and buy three things : 1. 133 ribbon cable upgrade, 2. video processor heat shrink, 3. side port cooling fans. These things will increase the speed that you xbox can load and will prevent overheating.
Are you running evox?
Any other questions or ideas let me know.
THanks,
Jamie

yeah man that sweet. I'll have to post pics of mine as soon as i get a chance. If anyone would like some of these let me know and I'll see what I can do. I wouldn't mind a copy of your's or anyone else's for that matter if you dont mind. I understand some people don't like to share stuff like that though.

Hi, How do you connect your Xbox to your Mazda Navigation System?
I use composite cable but the signal is orrible?
Do you use Composite cable or RGB cable?
If you use RGB cable how did you connect it?
Thanks
Tho

Hey Guys,
Does anyone know of a classifieds board on the net to buy used pre-modded xboxs? I have a modded xbox, but I would like to keep that one in the house. I modded it a long time ago when mod-chips were much more difficult to install. I'd rather buy a used one for my 8 instead of buying a new one and installing another chip. I like the idea of using a modded xbox instead of a CarPC because it boots up much quicker, and would be much more stable. Thanks

New gen modchips
The new generation of mofchips that have been coming out are screw on and are very easy to put on. They dont have solder or wires, just some pogo pins that drop in the motherboard. People want too much for premodded consoles.
